Where’s Your Twicsy At?

Twicsy

Have you used Twitpic yet? If not, now you have the opportunity to search through the thousands of images users are uploading to their Twitter accounts by using Twicsy. The best part of the website is the fact that you can now see all the images uploaded in the last hour. Above is an example of just the bizarre cornucopia of images that end up on Twitter via Twitpic. Now Twicsy gathers all those images in once place.

Monitor Your Sites Up Time

Last year Leading Hands introduced you to a web application where you can manually verify if your site is down; Down For Everyone Or Is It Just Me identifies if the connection is just bad on your end or bad for the rest of the world. Now a service called “Hows The” takes this concept to the next level by monitoring your site and sending you automated emails or text messages when it’s down.

I’ve tried “How’s The” out for a over a week now and the service has alerted me a few times across the multiple websites that I personally manage. This free is a perfect tool for small to large business owners who are curious how often their website is really down. Think about that moment your customer is ready to make a big purchase and your domain is down; you just lost a sale and you didn’t even know it. Why stay in the dark and think everything is just Jim Dandy?

Use “How’s The” and regularly monitor your website’s up time.

Trazzler, Tell Us Where To Go?

The other day Leading Hands gave you Hunch, a website that recommends books, movies, etc… based upon filling out a few questions. Now another service called Trazzler, recommends trips based on your location and travel personality; it seems that recommendation featured websites are all of a sudden becoming popular even though Amazon has been doing it for over ten years.

Your travel personality is created as you save trips in your wishlist and places you’ve been. Then Trazzler learns about the kind of trips you like and creates more trip choices. If you have a Facebook account, Trazzler will connect to your account, share wishlists, recommendations, and soon will suggest new friends based on travel compatibility. As you continue to use it, more travel suggestions will occur.

Note: All your travel descriptions and choices are public information.

Are We Living in The Jetson Age?

Recently NBC tried bringing back the classic Dave Hasselhoff TV show Knight Rider with a new cast, but ultimately it got canceled. The show had action sequences that reminded me of Fox’s 24; the acting by Justin Bruening as the new Michael and Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT was less than spectacular. The directors also transformed KITT from a Trans Am into a Mustang, but these changes wasn’t the dilemma with the show.

The new show simply got canceled because the vehicle’s technology isn’t as fascinating now as it was then. The technology inside the newest KITT seemed almost common because it’s practically inside most the latest models. Vehicles on the road don’t have artificial intelligence, lasers or holographic skins, but our cars have GPS navigation, video monitors, advanced security systems, internet connections, built-in communication, alternative fuel options, extensive computer systems and ultimately do talk.

Are we finally living in the age of the Jetson’s?

Need Software, No Cash?

Before making the next big software purchase, check out Source Forge.

You just might be surprised what you don’t have to pay for.

My Home Computers run Win XP, at work its Mac OSX. I even run Ubuntu at times. Sourceforge has software for everybody.

I needed to convert some video files and then make a DVD. At Work the Mac has built in options. At Home I needed solutions. I was able to find open source software at http://sourceforge.net/ for converting my video files and make the DVD with menus.

Everything was found, installed and going within a half hour.

George Jetson here I come.

Trackstick II Personal GPS Tracker

Looking for a new way to keep your personal belongings safe? I recently read about a family that recovered their boat using this GPS Tracker. This technology seems right out of James Bond, however it’s here today if you need to keep tabs on your stuff.

Earth Gagdets says, “Tracksticks are tiny GPS location recorders capable of continuously logging their own location histories for extended periods of time. The Trackstick records its own location, time, date, speed, heading and altitude at preset intervals. Traveled routes can be viewed directly in Google Earth.”

Back to the Deloreans? >>>

Back to the Future hit the big screen in 1985 and the icon for the movie was the Delorean DMC-12. Besides the flux capaciter, the car that Doc Brown and Marty traveled through time was special because it was uniquely constructed. According to Wikipedia, The DMC-12 features a number of unusual construction details, including gull-wing doors, unpainted stainless-steel body panels, and a rear-mounted engine.

Did you know there is a group of Delorean aficionados?
