Social Bookmarking

13 Jan

I recently presented at the American Advertising Federation’s Communications Career Day at Progressive Field for graduating seniors and I was amazed that the audience wasn’t aware of social bookmarking.

What is social bookmarking? When you visit a website, you “Bookmark This Page” with your browser so you can easily return back to that page. With regular bookmarks, they are kept on your local hard drive, but with social bookmarking, they are shared with the world.

Social Bookmarks
Let the world see what you bookmark
See who else is bookmarking the same ideas
Discover new things you’ve never seen before

There are many different types of bookmarking websites, but here are the popular ones:
http://delicious.com/
http://www.furl.net/
http://ma.gnolia.com/
