Get A Handle On Your Life With This App

19 Jul

I recently needed to try a new app to keep my life in balance. I have tried many “to-do” apps and a friend recommended I try a new one called Handle. The app site says, “it combines your to-dos, email, and calendar so you know exactly what you need to accomplish today, tomorrow, and beyond.” I gave the app a try for a week and I liked it.

The Wonders Of Google Translate App

10 Sep

I read about how the Google Translate App is now using Word Lens a few months ago – it’s where you hold up the app to text and it will automatically translate it to another language on the fly. However the other day, I actually saw the app used in front of my eyes and now I am a believer.

The experiment with the Google Translate App we attempted first was on a magazine – we did English to Spanish. The app had a few issues because the lighting needed to be just right to translate. The app also could only pick up specific text on the cover, however it worked 80% of the time. The real test was when I took the app outside and used it on a street sign – it worked exceptionally well translating!

Download the Google Translate App for Android and Apple; discover the wonders of the app for yourself!

Whats App Doc?

26 May

Are you on WhatsApp? I tried it out years ago but removed it because I wasn’t using it. Recently a friend asked me to try it again. If you are not familiar with it, Wikipedia says “WhatsApp is an instant messaging app for smartphones that operates under a subscription business model. The proprietary, cross-platform app uses the Internet to send text messages, images, video, user location and audio media messages.”

WhatsApp is an extension of your phones contact list allowing you to instant message and group your friends in an easy format. Facebook purchased the company a few years back to add to their arsenal of messaging tools. What do you like most about it?

Layar – Augmented Reality for Print

2 May

The other day during lunch, I discovered Layar which is an augmented reality print app. You use their app like a magic decoder ring by holding it over something printed to see another dimension. You can see links to videos and information that otherwise would be invisible. Their website says that it “helps to bridge the gap between the print and digital worlds.” Have you tried this app? What do you think of it?
