Sync MS Office & Google Docs

I was recently talking with a friend and he reminded me of a great website that often gets overlooked called Old Apps. Mogulus – Live Streaming TV in Beta

I was watching the morning crew on WKYC today and they encouraged the viewing audience to chat with them online. I logged on to the Channel 3 website, but I was more impressed with the opportunity to watch them live on the web through Mogulus.

Mogulus is watching live broadcast TV online. The website is in “beta”, but I was truly surprised that it’s teeming with a multitude of channels from around the world. After checking out WKYC for a second, I watched the Italian version of Big Brother, a U2 music channel and a Green Day concert. I also stumbled upon a swim meet from Iowa. Gmail Users – Try Mail Goggles!

I learned the hard way a few years ago about sending emails in the heat of the moment. Before I send out a big email, I generally save it in my draft box, let it simmer, and send it out later. This method of saving for later led to many drafts in my inbox, but it has made me certainly craft better emails. Now Google has created Mail Goggles to prevent you from sending that message you shouldn’t send.

Inside your Gmail “Setup”, under the “Labs” tab you will see the option to enable this feature. You have the opportunity to define what time of the day you want Google to ask if you if you really want to send this email.

By the way, if you don’t have a Gmail account, you are missing out on one of the best free products on the market. I would highly recommend signing-up for a Gmail account; you will never go back to your old email system.

PBWiki – Online Collaboration Tool

A friend of mine just told me about a great writing collaboration tool called PBWiki. She was using this free online web application to work on a group research paper project and had great success. Google Docs has been pioneering the concept of group document collaboration, so this really isn’t a new idea, but PBWiki has just made it easier.

I was surfing Google and I saw they introduced a mobile information service called 1-800-GOOG-411. Basically, you call the number, tell the automated agent what you want and it will give you a listing of services. It’s like moviefone for everything. The best part is that it’s free.

What do you do when you call?

• Say What You’re Looking For “I.E. Tacos”
• Pick Number
• Get Connected with Service

If you want just information, you can say “text” and the service will send the text to your phone. In this mode it will even send you a map of your location.

A Tip to Protect Your Computer

You may not know it, but at this moment your computer is most likely being crawled by Internet bots. What are these software applications doing? They are scanning your machine, dropping snippets of code on to it and watching your surfing habits. Generally these bots are sending information back to numerous companies in an effort to market to you more efficiently. The good news is you can fight back against the bots by installing a couple of free programs that will remove their malware.
