Claim Lost Money

24 Nov

What’s better than finding $20 in that winter coat you tucked away from last season? How about finding money that’s been lost from your family for years? MissingMoney.com searches state and county offices’ websites to find unclaimed funds and return them to you. The site is endorsed by NAUPA; my friends have also personally used the site and received lost funds. If you think you have funds to claim, you should search the site and find out.

Groupon Means Half-off Deals

19 Jun

Looking for half off deals in your city? Each day Groupon features something cool at an incredible price in your neighborhood. If you are familiar with Woot, than think of Groupon as the as the “local half-off deal of the day” version. You as the consumer get to introduce the deals; the catch is that in order to get the deal, enough people on Groupon need to agree.

Will this social network with a twist be successful? What if users keep suggesting deals of only the big chains or the same restaurants?

What’s the Dealio? Coupons!

16 Jul

Before you buy anything online, you have to first check Dealio. Why? The reason is that with one singular search, you may find an online coupon code that could save you hundreds.

At Dealio search online coupon codes from Nordstrom, Buy.com, Barnes and Noble, Macy’s, Target, Sephora, Apple, Babies “r” Us, Best Buy, Walmart and many more! I was skeptical at first, but every website before checkout has a field where they ask if you have an online promotion code. Why not save some money?

I recently stumbled upon this free online application that will help you manage your finances. If you are looking to keep track of your budget or perhaps you have a goal to buy that new car, then check out Geezeo.

Geezo is social networking meets money. What I liked best about this website is that it prompts you with wizard that walks you through common financial goals. The site then gives you a checklist to get them done. Another popular feature is the group discussions function; this is where users chat about financial tips, etc.. with each other. Join a community on Geezo and get talking about your money.

Mark Cuban’s Blog

19 Oct

Are you looking for a spark in this down turned economy? Whether you are a successful business executive or aspiring leader, read Mark Cuban’s Blog. Mr. Cuban is not only an Internet mogul, owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks, but a talented blogger.

His blog delivers true insight that is straight-from-the-hip financial and investment tips. Mark tells it like it is by giving you business examples right from his own life. For awhile I thought he was having someone else write his blog, but as you can tell there is a consistent style. Also, his blog has frequent typos which signifies no professional editor.

What other investment/financial blogs do you visit?

Upromise Toolbar

1 Sep

Do you have a AAA card–or an Entertainment Book?  I’ve got one of each and between the two of them, I could be getting discounts all over town.  But for some reason, I don’t take advantage of them anywhere near as much as I could.  My habits are no different online.  That’s why I give the Upromise toolbar two thumbs up.  It makes sure that you take advantage of any available savings whenever you happen upon one of their affiliated shopping sites.  (Not familiar with Upromise?)

If you or someone you know is using Upromise to save money for their kids’ college education, you’ll appreciate the value in this toolbar.  Of course you could go shopping through the Upromise shopping site directly—but who bothers to think of that?  Not me.  Just install the toolbar in your browser and you will be prompted whenever you reach a shopping site affiliated with Upromise.  Their site claims that members who use the toolbar save more than 5x more than members who don’t.

If you shop online—and you use Upromise, this free tool is a must.

MSN Gasoline Meter

21 Jun

If you are feeling the gas crunch, this is a pretty sweet tool. Just enter your zip code in the site below, and it tells you which gas stations have the cheapest prices (and the highest) on gasoline in your zip code area. It’s updated every evening.
