Twitter Isn’t New
This morning it hit me that Twitter isn’t new, just the medium that it’s being delivered on. Unlike email, the revolution of Twitter is you must limit each of your messages to 140 characters. Plus you also have an audience that chooses to follow you. Did you know that before IM, email and fax, there was the telegram?
During the telegram days, you had to pay for each letter of your message, so if you only had $1, your message was short and to the point. Not because you wanted it to be short, but because it had to be short. An example of a message might read, “Come quick, being attacked by outlaws .” If you think about it, short messages have been sent for over a hundred years, just now there a vehicle for mass distribution that is open to the world.
Have you signed up for a Twitter account yet?

Nice catch, I fixed it. I wonder how many misspelled telegrams were sent like that?
