Young Adults Care About Online Privacy

A new study from the Social Science Research Network says that young adults do care about online privacy. The survey was based on a 2009 telephone survey of 1,000 Americans 18 and older. Specially the feedback from Adults aged 18 to 24 revealed the following statistics:
- 82% refused to give out personal information to a business
- 84% believe permission is required before posting a photo or video online
- 40% think companies must face charges if use personal info illegally
The bottom line of the report is that “Researchers suggest that lawmakers and educators should not assume that young adults do not care about privacy and therefore don’t need protections.”
