The other day I tried opening a “zip” file and my trial WinZip program had expired. I then found out about “Power Achiver” from a friend which is a free file extraction tool. The software will not only open up ZIP files, but works on many other file formats.
I have added this program to Leading Hands’ list of open source programs.

how is this different than 7zip? http://www.7zip.com
After a quick review, it seems 7zip is truly open source. Right now PowerAchiver will prompt you every time you use it if you want to buy it, but you never do. Some other differences between Power Archiver and 7zip is the intuitive interface, the ability to open multiple file formats, advanced preview mode and a couple other features. I will add this to the list of open source software. Thanks!
